Three Levels of Compliance
Choose the AI remediation level that matches your risk tolerance, document types, and compliance needs. Each level builds on the previous one, adding features, quality controls, and assurance.
Level 1 - Standard
Level 1 is designed for organizations needing foundational compliance for internal, text-heavy, or archival documents, where rapid, automated improvement is the priority and full regulatory conformance is not yet required.
Level 1 Includes:
- Searchable PDFs: Industry leading OCR converts scanned or image based pages into searchable, accessible text.
- Automated tagging: Auto tagging of document structure, applying appropriate tags to headings, paragraphs, lists, and other elements.
- Logical reading order: Establishing logical reading order so content flows intuitively for users of assistive technologies.
- Language tagging and metadata: Assigns the correct document language and embeds key metadata for accessibility tools.
- Basic bookmarks: Generates bookmarks for improved navigation in multi page documents
Level 1 does not include:
- Comprehensive image descriptions: Images, graphs, and charts will not have descriptive alt text..
- Guaranteed compliance: Does not guarantee conformance with all success criteria of WCAG 2.1 AA or PDF/UA.
Level 2 - Enhanced Compliance
Level 2 is ideal for organizations with public facing, image or chart heavy documents, or those facing external audits. It offers a strong balance between automation, compliance, and cost, with a guaranteed minimum of 95 percent compliance per page.
Level 2 builds on the Standard tier by adding AI powered image descriptions and enhanced document analysis.
Level 2 Includes:
- All Level 1 Standard features, including OCR, tagging, reading order, and metadata.
- Contextual alt text for every image: Auto-generation of alternative text for images using generative AI to provide contextual descriptions.
- Enhanced structure analysis: Improved organization and grouping of content elements.
- Guaranteed compliance: Compliance assessment using the Assessment Tool to measure conformance with Section 508 requirements through evaluation of both PDF/UA and WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, with a target compliance level greater than 95 percent.
Level 2 does not include:
Expert human review that achieves a guaranteed 100 percent compliance with all guidelines.
Level 3 - Full Remediation
Level 3 is for organizations with strict regulatory or legal mandates, or for documents that require absolute certainty, such as policies, executive reports, or public disclosures. It is designed for teams with zero tolerance for compliance risk and the need for certified, audit-ready results.
Level 3 provides the highest level of assurance by adding professional human review and remediation to achieve full, policy-grade accessibility compliance.
Level 3 Includes:
- All Level 2 Enhanced Compliance features, including AI based remediation and compliance assessment.
- Complete human review of automated results: Expert Remediation Analysts review all generated content and tags, with a target of achieving 100 percent compliance. Exceptions apply where remediation cannot address inherent issues in the underlying document.
- Manual remediation of complex elements: Analysts address issues that automation cannot fully resolve, including intricate tables, charts, and interactive components.
- Full compliance verification: Remediation Analysts confirm adherence to all applicable accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 Level AA, PDF/UA, and Section 508.
Use this level when documents must withstand legal or regulatory scrutiny and require documented, audit-ready conformance.
